Hi everyone, Noah Romero here with your current Buena Vista local events update. From volunteering opportunities to seasonal fun, here are several ways to get involved or just enjoy what’s happening around town.
Upcoming Community & Recreation Events
Trail Work & Outdoor Stewardship
The BV Singletrack Coalition is hosting “Trail Work Wednesday” on September 9 (5:30–8:00 PM) in the dirt parking lot south of South Main. Another session is set for September 16 at the Midland Trailhead off CR 304. These are great chances to get outside and give back. Beginners welcome.
Heritage Fun & Fall Festivities
Friday at the Farm: Bad Penny will be at Turner Farm & Apple Orchard on September 11, 6–8 PM. Bring your lawn chair or blanket for an evening of live music, company, and snacks. Admission by donation.
AppleFest, one of Buena Vista Heritage’s biggest draws, is coming up on September 12 at Turner Farm & Apple Orchard (10 AM – 3 PM). Expect apple treats, pony rides, historic tours, and kids’ activities in a festive fall harvest setting.
Local Governance & Organizational Meetings
Civic & Planning Meetings
You can attend the Planning Commission Meeting on September 8 at 7:00 PM in Council Chambers (2039 Sycamore Ave). This is when land use, zoning, and community development matters are discussed.
The Board of Zoning Appeals Meeting is scheduled for September 9 at 5:00 PM in the same location. If you’ve ever wondered about variance requests or building standards, this is where those are addressed.
Civic Celebrations & Closures
Don’t forget that City Offices will be closed early (12:00 PM) on September 4 in observance of Labor Day, with business refuse schedules slightly altered.
The big 55th Annual Labor Day Festival is on September 7 starting at 8:00 AM at Camden Field. Features include a kids’ fun run, road race, parade, and opening ceremony.
Ways to Keep Tabs & Get Involved
If you’d like regular updates, check Buena Vista’s official events calendar as well as the Recreation programs listing. Many activities—art classes, youth programs, sports—are ongoing and worth keeping an eye on.
Whether you’re into outdoors work, music, or civic issues, there’s something happening soon that can match your interests. See you around town!
